William Townsend, DVM
Dr. Townsend is a lifelong resident of Bossier Parish and has lived in Haughton, LA since 1965. He graduated from Haughton High School in 1980 and attended Louisiana Tech University until 1983 when he was accepted to Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. He graduated academically first in his class in May of 1987. He returned to Bossier Parish and initially practiced Equine Medicine in a mobile practice until the construction of Haughton Animal Hospital was completed in September of 1987. He practiced in both large and small animal medicine until 1992 when he decided to focus on small animal medicine and surgery only. His main areas of interest in practice include internal medicine, preventive care, orthopedic and ophthalmologic surgery.
Dr. Townsend is married to Jeanna Townsend and they have a son, Brandon, who is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and a daughter, Ashley, who is a Physicians Assistant in Orthopedic Surgery. They also have 6 granddaughters and two New Foundland dogs named Bennie and Ralphie. He lives in Haughton and attends First Baptist Church in Haughton. When he is not working, Dr. Townsend likes to spend time hunting, fishing, and doing carpentry.
