Emergency
Here at Haughton Animal Hospital, our large animal services are available for emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We offer in hospital care and ambulatory calls to provide the best care for our clients and their animals. If you have an emergency after hours, please call our emergency service at 318-227-7913.
Sometimes a client is not sure if a condition is an emergency or not. We may be able to determine over the phone if a sick or injured animal needs to be seen by one of our veterinarians immediately or not. It is very helpful to have some basic information ready on the initial call such as:
- 1. Is the animal eating normally?
- 2. In the case of a difficult delivery(birthing), what are the approximate breeding date? How long has the animal been in labor?
- 3. Rectal temperature(if possible) taken with any medical thermometer
- 4. Any drugs and doses that may have been administered
